Welcome to NSA website!

Network for Social Accountability (NSA) believes that 'development' is not an automatic process and it needs consistent efforts to carry forward the process. These efforts can be in the form of initiatives for creating a wider space for open debate, promoting pluralities and contributing to the theory and practice of a participative democratic alternative and seeking accountability from the policymakers. Network for Social Accountability seeks to perform the role of a development agent to facilitate the process.

Why Social Accountability?

The public policies in India have not only failed to provide relief to the poor and the marginalised sections of our society, but their wrong approach towards development and growth has resulted in a steady crowding out of the dissenting voices. The mainstream component of the media and the academics has transformed themselves into an instrument for propagating these wrong policies uncritically. Knowing it very well that the resistance to these policies can only be based on the expansion of democratic spaces, and in the first instance of forums of open debate, NSA seeks to resist the anti people policies through rediscovering marginalised voices, promoting pluralities and contributing to the theory and practice of a participative democratic alternative.
